How much were you drinking and what problems was it causing?
Over the last couple of years I was not drinking a great deal on an everyday basis but had binges every so often. I really hated the fact that I could not seem to prevent the binges, despite good intentions. I had been drinking alcohol since age 17 and had always struggled to control bingeing. Bingeing for me meant feeling awful the next day, losing personal items, saying things I regretted and feeling awful self loathing
What was the key reason you wanted to change- what motivated you?
I was so completely fed up with not being able to control or prevent bingeing. I was also fed up with the anxiety that goes with drinking too much- the regrets, the concern about things I might have said and whether I had offended anyone etc. Also, I felt that I thought too much about alcohol- I would constantly be calculating units to see whether I could have a drink or not.
What did you try before and what failed ?
Everything I had tried involved self control. Dry January, reducing during the week, lower alcohol wine. None of this worked on an ongoing basis because there would still be occasions when I binged
How did you discover me(Sandra)?
You came up on my Facebook feed.
Were you sceptical this method would work?
I was but the testimonials were good and I listened to a few of the clips and liked them. You sounded sensible and intelligent and listened to people- I liked all those aspects
What amazing immediate results you got
As soon as I started doing the modules, I felt a sense of connection and as though the scales were being lifted from my eyes. I began to feel positive that I may finally be able to ditch alcohol altogether
Biggest benefit for you in doing this work?
Being free of the curse that is alcohol. No hangovers. More energy in the mornings. Able to watch movies at night without falling asleep. Not hating myself or feeling weak anymore
What would you say to someone thinking of signing up to do this 3 month programme with me?
I would say that Sandra listens extremely well and offers lots of practical suggestions. She was also willing to talk about her own journey and this was a good motivator too. Sandra is kind and I never felt embarrassed by anything. She puts you at ease from the beginning so that you can start responding to the material in the modules.
