How much were you drinking and what problems was it causing?
I had got to the point where I was drinking every evening. It was closing down my life, I wasn’t enjoying anything and just rushing through everything in order to get to the point when I could have a glass of wine. I was drinking way too much on my own at home. I had put on weight, I had no energy, everything had become dulled, I wasn’t really feeling anything, I was definitely stuck and it was just going to get worse.
What was the key reason you wanted to change- what motivated you?
My children had left home and I just thought that this can’t be it, the rest of my life just collapsed on the sofa every night with a bottle of wine. I didn’t feel healthy in mind or body at all.
Were you sceptical this method would work?
I was curious to find out about it, I knew I needed help and couldn’t do it on my own.
What had you tried before to cut down or have a break from alcohol?
I had done dry January a couple of times and literally just white knuckled it through with sheer will power just to prove to myself that I could do it, but then went straight back to old habits.
Did you enjoy the group structure?
Yes, very much. It is really helpful that everyone is at different stages, everyone I encountered was amazing, it felt like we all had a special connection even though we were all relative strangers because we had all brought ourselves to this place for the same reason, so there was so much empathy and encouragement.
What amazing results did you get?
I put the work in and was 100 percent committed, after a few mini challenges I went alcohol free after 3 weeks and I am now on day 70 and going strong. I have my evenings back, everything is brighter again and I am making plans. The main thing is that I have learned so much and now have some brilliant tools in order to stay on track and that I can apply to other things in life as well. I feel like myself again and much more present and purposeful.
What are you looking forward to and what’s now possible for you as a result of getting your freedom back?
I feel like I can say yes to everything. I am now ready to start looking at my fitness and health, I just feel relief really and I have my confidence back. I am going to make a future; I feel like I am back to myself before alcohol high jacked my life.
What impact has it made to your business?
Enormous impact, I have fallen back in love with my work, I can see everything in HD, I am excited about new projects. I am more organised and energetic because I am sleeping so much better. I have lots more ideas about where I want to go with it.
What would you say to someone thinking of signing up to work with me?
Definitely do it and be all in. Sandra is wonderful, she has lived it and breathed it herself which I think is hugely important, the call I made to her was probably the most important call of my life so far and I will never forget her and will be eternally grateful, she got me!
