Deirdre Testimonial

How much were you drinking and what problems was it causing?

I was a daily drinker for probably the last 15 years between 1 and a half  to 2 and a half  bottles of red wine a night as I live on my own I was a secret drinker if I had to socialise I would only have a couple of glasses of wine until I got home. My children knew I drank but not too the extent I was drinking so it caused them pain and worry and that broke my heart.

What was the key reason you wanted to change- what motivated you?

I’ve had depression for over 34 years and I knew alcohol was making it worse also I wanted to change for my children I wanted them to feel safe and know I was ok.

How did you discover me?

MailOnline

Were you sceptical this method would work for you?

I was very sceptical but it was last chance saloon for me.

Did you try before to cut down or have a break from alcohol?

Yes for this past 10 years I’ve wanted to give up alcohol and for 3 years now I’ve stopped and started so so many times day one’s where getting to be my norm

You have embraced the Brag book tool that we use to boost self esteem – how has that helped you?

For me I feel the brag book was the biggest change to my life I resisted it at the beginning SERIOUSLY how could I brag about me. Now I brag everyday about every little thing

Did you enjoy the group structure?

At the beginning I was very sceptical and overwhelmed I’ve always been a wallflower but the honesty and the privacy and the support from Sandra and the group made me feel completely safe I started as a chrysalis and now I’m a butterfly

What would you say to someone thinking of signing up to work with me?

If you really want to give up alcohol Sandra and this group is the place to be. Believe me other than the AA I had excused all other options

What are you most excited about now that you are alcohol free?

I’m excited for everything in life. The good the bad the ugly I’m now at peace with myself no more feeling a fraud no more self hate. The world is my oyster now I’m not just alcohol free I’m free from alcohol and what a prison that was
