How much were you drinking and what problems was it causing?
A bottle of wine and then G&Ts on top 3/4 times a week
What was the key reason you wanted to change- what motivated you?
My family – embarrassing them / making them worry about me
My mental health – I was thinking / worrying / arguing with myself about alcohol every day – it was all consuming – I was wasting half of my life!
My physical health – every pain was sending my down a well of worry – I knew I was playing with fire – I was waiting for the payback
What did you try before and what failed ?
I read This Naked Mind – then I ignored it
I did Dry January
I tried EVERY SINGLE DAMN WEEK and failed
How did you discover me?
I read a post on Just The Tonic facebook page that really resonated and called you
Were you sceptical this method would work?
Massively sceptical – I carried on drinking through the first 3 weeks thinking ‘we’ll see’ then I had a blackout and realised that I had to put my all into it and do the work and that it might just work.
What amazing results did you get?
It worked – I am now 2 months AF and plan to continue stretching it out to truly get to the point where I have complete control over it.
What impact has it made to your relationship with your son and your husband?
They are proud of me and relaxed. I am way more active which my son loves. I am thoroughly enjoying them and being present.
Biggest benefit for you in doing this work?
I have stopped obsessing about it. The headspace it was taking up was not healthy. I have no anxiety now. I’ve swapped self-loathing for self-esteem and I love it!
What would you say to someone thinking of signing up to work with me?
It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
